What is GFC therapy?

GFC stands for Growth Factor Concentrate. A small sample of your own blood is drawn and processed in a dedicated GFC kit that first activates the platelets, then separates the released growth factors from the cellular debris. What remains is an acellular, straw-coloured concentrate rich in PDGF, VEGF, EGF, IGF-1 and TGF-beta.

The distinction from conventional PRP matters clinically. PRP delivers platelets that must still degranulate inside the scalp, and it carries red and white cells that can trigger inflammation and post-injection soreness. GFC delivers the finished signalling molecules directly, in a higher and more consistent concentration, with less discomfort during and after the session.

Because the preparation is autologous — derived entirely from your own blood — there is no risk of allergic reaction or disease transmission, which makes GFC one of the safest options in the non-surgical hair loss toolkit.

How GFC stimulates hair growth

Hair grows in cycles: an active growing phase (anagen), a brief transitional phase (catagen) and a resting phase (telogen). In pattern hair loss, anagen shortens with each cycle and follicles miniaturise until they produce only fine vellus hair. Growth factors intervene directly in that cycle.

The GFC session, step by step

A GFC appointment is comfortably completed in your lunch hour.

  • 1. Blood draw

    Approximately 11 to 16 ml of blood is collected from your arm into the GFC kit tubes.

  • 2. Activation

    The platelets are activated inside the closed kit so they release their internal growth factor payload.

  • 3. Centrifugation

    A controlled spin separates the pure growth factor concentrate from cells and debris.

  • 4. Scalp preparation

    Topical anaesthetic is applied for 20 to 30 minutes and the scalp is cleaned with antiseptic.

  • 5. Injection

    The concentrate is injected into the dermal layer across the thinning zones in a grid roughly one centimetre apart.

  • 6. Post-session care

    No hair wash for six hours; avoid swimming, saunas and harsh chemical treatments for 48 hours.

Recovery and results timeline

GFC has no true recovery period, but results follow the hair cycle rather than the calendar, so patience is essential.
