Biological Follicular Unit Extraction

Bio FUE Hair Transplant in Visakhapatnam

Bio FUE is standard follicular unit extraction combined with biological support — PRP or growth factor concentrate prepared from your own blood is used to bathe the grafts and treat the recipient scalp. The surgery is the same; what changes is the environment the transplanted follicles wake up in, which shows in faster growth and better protection of surrounding native hair.

What is Bio FUE hair transplant?

Bio FUE follows exactly the same surgical route as FUE — individual follicular units are punched out of the donor zone and implanted into micro-incisions in the thinning area. The difference is biological. A sample of your blood is drawn on the day of surgery and processed to concentrate platelets and growth factors. That concentrate is used in two places: as an enrichment of the holding solution the grafts sit in, and as an injection into the recipient scalp before implantation.

Follicles are most vulnerable in the window between extraction and implantation, when they are cut off from blood supply. Storing them in a growth-factor-enriched, chilled medium reduces oxidative stress during that window. Treating the recipient bed improves local vascularity, so the grafts reconnect to a blood supply sooner after placement.

Bio FUE is therefore not a different operation but a protocol layered on top of one. It is the option we recommend when a patient has borderline donor supply, has thinning native hair worth protecting, or simply wants every reasonable advantage for graft survival.

Benefits of the Bio FUE method

Because the biological material comes from your own body, the additions carry no risk of allergy or rejection.

  • Better graft survival

Growth-factor-enriched holding solution reduces stress on follicles during the out-of-body window.

  • Faster onset of growth

Improved recipient vascularity often brings first visible growth forward by several weeks.

  • Protects native hair

The same growth factors help stabilise the miniaturising hair surrounding the transplanted zone.

  • Calmer healing

Patients typically report less redness and quicker settling of the recipient area.

  • Autologous and safe

PRP and GFC are prepared from your own blood, so there is no risk of allergic reaction.

  • Pairs with maintenance

The same therapy continues as scheduled PRP or GFC sessions after surgery.

The Bio FUE procedure step by step

One extra step — blood draw and processing — is added at the start of an otherwise familiar FUE day.

  • 1. Blood draw and processing

A small blood sample is centrifuged to separate platelet-rich plasma or growth factor concentrate.

  • 2. Planning and design

Trichoscopy, graft calculation and hairline design are completed and approved.

  • 3. Anaesthesia

The donor and recipient zones are numbed with local anaesthesia using a ring block.

  • 4. Extraction

Follicular units are harvested individually with a micro punch and moved straight into chilled solution.

  • 5. Bio-enrichment

The holding solution is enriched with your growth factor concentrate while grafts are sorted by hair count.

  • 6. Recipient preparation

The thinning scalp is injected with PRP or GFC to improve local blood supply before sites are created.

  • 7. Implantation

Grafts are placed at natural angle and density, singles at the front, multi-hair units behind.

  • 8. Aftercare plan

You leave with medication, washing instructions and a schedule of follow-up PRP or GFC sessions.

Recovery and results timeline

Recovery mirrors standard FUE, with growth milestones that often arrive slightly earlier.

  • Days 1 – 3

Mild swelling and tenderness; sleep elevated and follow the medication schedule.

  • Days 4 – 10

Washing resumes gently and crusts clear from the recipient area.

  • Weeks 3 – 8

Expected shedding of transplanted shafts while the roots stay in place.

  • Months 2 – 4

New growth commonly appears at the earlier end of the usual range.

  • Months 5 – 8

Density builds and the recipient area begins to look styled rather than transplanted.

  • Months 9 – 12

Final calibre and coverage, supported by maintenance PRP or GFC sessions.

Who should consider Bio FUE?

Bio FUE is particularly useful for patients whose native hair is actively thinning around the area being transplanted, since the growth factor component helps hold that hair while the grafts establish. It also suits patients with modest donor supply, where protecting every harvested graft matters most.

Patients with bleeding disorders, platelet dysfunction, active scalp infection or those on blood thinners that cannot be paused may not be suitable for the biological component, though the underlying FUE remains available to them.

As with any transplant, blood investigations and a scalp examination at consultation confirm suitability before a date is booked.
