Advanced Follicular Unit Extraction
Adv FUE Hair Transplant in Visakhapatnam
Adv FUE (Advanced Follicular Unit Extraction) is the high-volume version of standard FUE. A calibrated motorised micro-punch, sharper depth control and a larger surgical team allow us to harvest and place far more grafts in a single sitting — which is exactly what advanced Norwood grades need to look genuinely covered rather than thinly filled.

- Procedure time
- 8 – 11 hours (may span two days)
- Anaesthesia
- Local, with sedation option
- Grafts per session
- 3,000 – 7,000
- Back to work
- 3 – 4 days

What is Adv FUE hair transplant?
Adv FUE keeps the core principle of follicular unit extraction — grafts are removed one by one from the DHT-resistant donor zone, leaving no linear scar — but upgrades every step that limits how many grafts can safely be moved in one day. A speed-controlled motorised punch with a serrated or hybrid tip separates the follicle from surrounding tissue with less torsion, so transection rates stay low even when the harvest runs into thousands of units.
The second upgrade is organisational. Extraction, sorting and implantation run in parallel with a trained team rather than sequentially, which keeps out-of-body time short. Graft survival falls sharply once follicles sit outside the body too long, and that — not surgeon stamina — is what caps the size of a conventional session.
The result is a technique built for advanced baldness. Where a standard session covers a hairline and mid-scalp, Adv FUE can address the crown in the same sitting, giving patients at Norwood grade 5, 6 or 7 a complete result without waiting a year between stages.
Benefits of the Adv FUE method
Adv FUE is chosen when graft requirement is high and donor supply must be used with maximum efficiency.
Very high graft yield
Sessions of 3,000 to 7,000 grafts are achievable, enough to cover frontal, mid-scalp and crown together.
Lower transection
Depth-calibrated motorised punches cut cleanly around the follicle instead of tearing it, protecting the donor bank.
Fewer surgical days
Advanced grades that would need two or three standard sittings are often completed in one extended session.
No linear scar
Extraction points are sub-millimetre and heal as faint dots, so short hairstyles remain possible.
Body and beard donor option
When scalp donor supply is thin, beard and chest grafts can supplement the harvest for crown density.
Even donor thinning
Extraction is distributed across a wide donor field so no single area is over-harvested.
How the Adv FUE procedure is performed
The surgical day is longer than a standard transplant, so it is structured in blocks with scheduled breaks and meals.
1. Graft planning
Trichoscopy measures donor density per square centimetre and calculates the safe maximum harvest for your scalp.
2. Design and consent
Hairline, mid-scalp and crown zones are marked and graft allocation for each is agreed before starting.
3. Tumescent anaesthesia
Local anaesthesia with tumescent fluid firms the tissue, which improves punch accuracy and reduces bleeding.
4. Motorised extraction
Grafts are harvested in a distributed pattern with a calibrated punch, monitored continuously for transection.
5. Graft holding
Units are stored in chilled preservation solution and sorted by hair count under magnification.
6. Site creation
Recipient incisions are made at the natural exit angle, with density graded from hairline to crown.
7. Implantation
Multiple trained implanters work in parallel to place grafts quickly and keep out-of-body time to a minimum.
8. Review
Final graft count is documented, aftercare is explained and the first follow-up is scheduled for the next morning.
Recovery after Adv FUE
Recovery follows the same biology as any FUE, though a larger harvest means slightly more donor soreness in the first week.
Days 1 – 3
Forehead swelling and donor tightness are common; sleep elevated and take the prescribed medication.
Days 4 – 10
Gentle washing begins, crusts soften and fall away, and the donor area settles quickly.
Weeks 3 – 8
Transplanted shafts shed while roots remain anchored — expected and temporary.
Months 3 – 5
Fine new hair emerges, thickening month by month.
Months 6 – 9
Frontal and mid-scalp density becomes clearly visible.
Months 10 – 12
Crown catches up last; the final calibre and coverage are assessed at twelve months.
Who is Adv FUE suitable for?
Adv FUE suits patients with advanced pattern baldness — typically Norwood grade 5 to 7 — who still have adequate donor density and want maximum coverage in as few sittings as possible. It is also used for large repair cases where earlier work left uneven density.
It is not the right choice for everyone. Patients with a limited donor bank, diffuse unpatterned thinning or unstable, rapidly progressing loss are better served by a smaller staged session combined with medical therapy. Donor calculation at consultation decides this, not patient preference.
Systemic conditions such as uncontrolled diabetes, thyroid disease or anaemia are corrected before a long session is scheduled, since both graft survival and surgical comfort depend on it.
